So I was sitting in the cafeteria, eating my dinner, when suddenly, I hear this squeal of "You're back!!", whereupon I'm hugged from behind. ^_____^ I was rather confused, and turned to see this girl whose group I tend to eat lunch with if I see them, because I have classes with them, and they're nice.
I'm not a very social eater, though, I tend to just eat quickly and disappear, quietly listening to whatever they're talking about, so I was really surprised to see her that happy that I was back out of quarantine. I haven't talked to her all that much. I don't even know how she heard about me being sick. But it made me really, really, really happy.
Guess I didn't stick out as much in that group as I was afraid I did. ^______^

so, I was feeling... not too good today, and I had the highest fever I've had in years, but I figured it was just a cold, and left it at that. Then, on my way back from lunch, I checked the procedures for when you're sick. And had enough symptoms that I should be getting hold of the nurse and/or a doctor and get checked for swine flu.
since the nurse isn't here on sundays, I wondered for a while what to do - I figured waiting until tomorrow wouldn't really hurt - but in the end, I called some staff, and they told me to go to the doctor's. So when my roomie came home from work, she was kind enough to drive me.
Result?

Result?
I OFFICIALLY HAVE SWINE FLU!! AAHAHAHAHAHAH!! *amused* so they gave me this flu medicine, that apparently has this side effect of giving you delusions and stuff - although it's mostly prominent among teenagers, so they give 'em out to people older than that, figuring it's okay.
Roomie's friend's younger brother had it and apparently saw the Grim Reaper. I'm guessing this was before they figured out the drug affects young one's.
Me, if it's Grimmie, I'd welcome him squeeing, I think. I just wonder which one I'd get.... XD;;
So now I'm in quarantine, with nothing to do but use the comp and read. I'm not allowed to leave this room until two days after the fever's gone down. This'll be... interesting... XD;;

Miki Araya writes some pretty insane crack. All the characters' reactions are so silly and beyond unbelievable that you can't help but laugh. I've been giggling/snickering pretty much non-stop for the last 45 mins or so. XD
And there's lots and lots of smut. XD

if I manage to finish these noodles without choking, it'll be a miracle. Every time I try to suck 'em in, I start coughing, and fearing that it'll lodge noodles in my throat.
it's actually kinda terrifying... XD
oh, I bought a cd today. and got one of those eco reusable shopping bags with it. XD it's very pretty (both cd and shopping bag).
also got this four-panel CRACK manga from the sengoku jidai. it's friggin' hilarious. XD
Edit: survived dinner.

Let's count how many hours of sleep I've had the last four days...
The number is somewhere between 12-18 hours. That's an average of 3-4.5 hours of sleep per night.
Now, let's count how many hours I've spent in bed trying to sleep the last four days...
The number is somewhere between 24-32 hours. That's an average of 6-8 hours of trying to sleep per night. Clearly, I haven't been very successful...
I'm now on my fifth night, and gave up after 2 1/2 hours of trying to sleep and failing. miserably. not even a wink. Sol...

Natsu Yuuzora by Atari Kousuke (aka ED theme of Natsume Yuujinchou, one of the most wonderfully touching and melancholy stories ever) is quite possibly the prettiest song in existence. omfg, I has so much love. *listens to on repeat*
if anyone has want, say the word, and I'll upload song (though you can download it by BT on tokyotosho.info. just search for "natsume" in the music category).
also finished like, half my christmas presents. just need some tea for two people, and then figure out what to get for the remaining four that are being sent out of the country. the four that I'm just handing over here I still have some time to think about (although I do have a slight plan for them). christmas cards have also been bought, and are halfway written. which means I can prolly get them out long before the christmas rush starts. yay!
need to ask mom if she has any idea what dad and my aunts and uncles want, though. and tell nii-chan that he's in charge of getting toys for the two kiddies. I'm guessing that's a task he'll rather enjoy. XD
I will be very happy when the christmas stuff is done. that only leaves homework and papers and presentations. ahahahah..hah..hah..... -___-;; I'm so doomed.

I just wanna say, my memory works in the oddest ways... I'm good sometimes. XD
So, a whole group of us watched Howl's Moving Castle the other day, and I felt a desperate need to read the book, too, but my copy is in Norway, being borrowed by... someone. Quite possibly someone that's here in Japan, I dunno. So I figured I'd see if I could get a cheap copy (found one for $3, including shipping, will check out the nearby secondhand bookstores just in case), and while I was at it, checked out some of her other books, cause DWJ is awesome. XD and if I can get more of her books really cheap, I'll totally go for it.
anyways, surfing on amazon, I found this one book on children's fantasy by four British authors, she being one of them, so I checked out the other names, found one that made me go "hey, wasn't she the one who wrote that series I absolutely loved as a kid and kept rereading ad nauseum...?"
she was. I can get the whole set for $20, and oh, I'm going to, when the money comes in. Which then made me think: "there was this other book (series..?) that I read, it was on the same shelf in the library, fantasy, about this girl who was... something. what was it?" I remembered the book cover having a leopard or something on it, and that the local library didn't have the next book in the series, so I never got to know how it went. I did not, however, remember the title, except I had a vague feeling it somehow involved "storm", or the author's name. Or whether I read it in Norwegian or English. Kiiiinda makes it hard to search if you don't even know what language to use.
So I tried searching amazon's YA/fantasy section for "storm". I wouldn't recommend it, I gave up pretty darn fast. I tried searching the library I'd borrowed it from as a kid through their web page. No help.
In the end, I attempted visualizing that beloved fantasy shelf, this small collection that I read over and over and over and over, and it came to me: "wasn't it placed right next to that other series I read all the time? Which means they would share the same letter last name."
Suddenly, a random name hits me out of nowhere, I go "zomg, this might be it!", search it and voila!
Which I think is quite impressive for a book (turns out it was two books of a trilogy. no wonder I remembered being annoyed over the library not having the next book) I read once or twice 6-10 years ago.
So, Ms/Mrs (whichever) Cooper and Cooper? I look forward to rereading your books! XD (not a good discovery to make right before midterms, nano and evil-ass presentation)

due to the massive headache I've had all day, I haven't posted yet, sorry. headache still not gone, I'm hoping sleep will fix it. ugh.
I'm not sure I'm happy with the ending, so I may fix that at some point, who knows. atm, I just want to finish as many of my WIPs as possible, cause my WIP folder annoys me with its size.
Title: Two-Person Solitude
Rating: PG-13 for some language, maybe? can't remember
Warnings: m/m. some angst and beware concussions from the plothammer of doom:
Summary: Lyall and Tracy. something. will put something here when I can think again without wanting to pull my head off.

I'm on fire... finished another WIP today, writing more than 2,5k just tonight. but I'm now so sleepy I literally cannot see properly, so I'll upload tomorrow morning, after a quick read through for stupid typos.
and now I shall sleep, before my eyes shrivel up and fall out. ugh.
but yay, glad my writing speed is slowly going back to normal.

The problem with LJ: we all think we are so close, but really, we know nothing about each other. So I want you to ask me something you think you should know about me. Something that should be obvious, but you have no idea about. Ask away.
Then post this in your LJ and find out what people don't know about you.

so, turns out I actually am getting the JASSO. in 9 days. JOY! MONEY! AT LAST!
...I should go get dinner, and then do my homework. HATE HOMEWORK, THERE'S TOO MUCH OF IT~~~!! ><not really, I'm just lazy.

so, roughly at the beginning of next month, my scholarship'll be in my account. At approximately the same time, I'll be receiving my first $200 for my translating work. <3
and now I got a mail today that I might receive a second scholarship (JASSO, if you know it) as well, and if that's true, I'll be getting it around the same time.
wtf, life? I mean I'm being INSANELY lucky here, yet everything seems to be in pieces back home (the last Mail of Doom wasn't the first one) . did I take everybody's luck with me, or something like that? (but then again, things were pretty bad before I left as well...) I don't usually count myself as a lucky person!
still, I'm halfway expecting the JASSO scholarship to be some sort of mix-up, since everybody else who got it were told ages ago. the mail said to come by the office some time this week, so I'll head over tomorrow and make sure.
'course, it would pretty much be too awesome for words if I did actually get it.
also, Ashmore-sensei amuses me, he doesn't want me to go back home to Norway. XD he wants me to be his TA, and help out with a more in-depth manga course he's putting together/planning atm.
which I don't really mind, since I don't really wanna go back. Sure, there are people and things I miss, and it's not like I don't ever wanna go back, but... it's not where I wanna live? I like it better here? I dunno.
but yeah, if I can, I'd like to take extra credits next semester. it would be awesome, cause then I can graduate this spring, and not really have to study any more back home. I wanna start woooorking, not screw around in uni.

well, gee.
last night, I was so excited, cause I got the mail that my scholarship was processed and they just need my signature and the money will be in my account. I also managed to fix ubuntu, a last wild attempt since the other OS was dying on me, so now I have working skype (after lots of nagging from friends) and working BITTORRENT!!! which meant I saw like three or four eps of Bones last night. Getting up at 7.30 wasn't fun when I went to bed at 2am...
But yeah, I was feeling pretty good, but then I got a mail from back home this morning.
My mom's having surgery in less than ten hours, the boat that dad bought earlier this year sunk, and might not be fixable. And my aunt has cancer. For the second time. She already had to remove one breast because of breast cancer, years ago. She's gonna have to do chemo.
oh sol. please, please, please don't let her die. I love her so much!
...course, considering how many people I know have died the last year or so, I guess I shouldn't get my hopes up.

my friend just showed me her book, "Japanese made funny". she gave me just a random page, I read two lines, and died. just died laughing
Apparently, a common mistake for foreigners to make, is to mix up the words "okosu" and "okasu". The first is "to wake someone up". The second? "To rape".
.....any line I can think of just sounds like some sort of bad yaoi, srsly....

.....sometimes, I wonder if I'm cursed, srsly. or maybe Pain-chan just likes me too much.
Although this time, I'm actually kinda worried. Going to the doctor's in the morning if I'm not better, and if they can't do anything, I'll be all kinds of screwed.
Not being able to swallow due to pain really doesn't bode well. And it isn't even my throat that's hurting.
gooood, so hungry....
UPDATE: if anybody's interested, no, I didn't die, and I'm not dying. I just have a sinus infection. ^______^ hurts like a bitch (feels like someone's stabbing me through the ear and into my head whenever I swallow or yawn), but not at all dangerous. They gave me lots of meds (anti-biotics, painkillers, something to de-clot snot or something (don't ask), and also pro-biotics so my stomach bacteria won't die on me. anti-biotics are apparently big fans of equal treatment), blew air or something into my nose for three minutes, and told me that "It might hurt, but I'm afraid you're just gonna have to hang in there, and do your best to eat and drink plenty, since you won't get better if not. Here are painkillers."
I was tempted to go "um, how am I supposed to take painkillers if I can't swallow? it friggin hurts dude! I has no words for the pain."
In the end, I just gave up, and I'm now eating "normally". Hurts like.... seven hells. possibly more. but hey, I know it's not serious, I suppose I can endure.
Still, I wish they'd give me painkillers that actually do their job, though (I hate japanese painkillers. I miss Ibu-chan and Para-chan). Anti-biotics are doing their job too well so far. pro-biotics appear to be in the lazy camp with the painkillers. the snot medicine... I have no idea, and I don't wanna know, srsly.
